This chapter is dedicated to pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium, and has its own sequencing rule: an obstetric code from this chapter takes priority as the first-listed diagnosis on a maternal record whenever the encounter is pregnancy-related. Most codes also require the trimester or gestational week.
